Request an estimateIs spray foam the right fit for my Fort Worth attic?
Spray foam insulation in Fort Worth usually goes on the underside of your roof deck, the boards under your roofing, so the whole attic becomes sealed and insulated and stays much closer to the temperature of the rooms below it.
Most people who call me have a hot upstairs, a room over the garage that never cools down or a power bill that keeps going up, and in a lot of houses here the furnace and ducts sit right up in that attic heat. The price mostly moves with how much roofline we're covering, which foam we use and how thick, and any repairs that have to come first, like a roof leak. The schedule turns on that same prep and on how long the foam's maker says to stay out afterward. I'll give you your own figure when I come out for the estimate.
How we do spray foam insulation
The first thing I look at is where your heating and cooling equipment lives. When the unit and its ducts are in the attic, foam under the roof deck puts them inside the insulated part of the house, so even air that leaks from a loose duct joint still cools your rooms. Next I check for anything the foam would cover up, because that gets dealt with before we spray. Before spray day, we've already planned with you where the household will stay. Then our crew sprays along the underside of the roof sheathing, working from the eaves up so the edges get as much coverage as the middle.
Foam costs more than loose fill, and it earns that when the ductwork is up there. If your equipment sits somewhere else, I'll usually point you to regular attic insulation instead, which means sealing the gaps around can lights, pipes and the hatch and then topping up with blown-in insulation, loose fill blown in through a hose. When the ducts aren't in the attic, that's usually the better use of your money.
What Texas rules mean for spray foam insulation in Fort Worth
Texas sets an energy code for houses, and the state's guide from Texas A&M lists Tarrant County in climate zone 3, the zone that code uses for houses in the county. A city or county can also adopt its own changes to the code, and in some counties those changes have to keep the efficiency rules at least as strict as the state's. So before the work starts, we check with your city's building office about what the job needs and take care of any permit and inspection on our end.
On jobs around here we see a lot of attics with the furnace, coil and ducts tucked up under the roof through long, hot summers. That's the attic we plan for most often, and we find the same setup on jobs in Haltom City and North Richland Hills.
Why call us for spray foam
I give the estimate myself
I come out to look at your attic and give the estimate, then I run the work alongside our install crew. The person who saw your roof deck is the one on the job when we spray.
Problems fixed before any foam
We look for roof leaks, wet wood and anything nobody has checked, and deal with it before insulation goes in. If your roof needs fixing first, I'll tell you to get that done, because foam over a leak won't do much for you.
Learned on a Fort Worth crew
I left an office desk to learn insulation on a Fort Worth crew, and I started this business in 2020. The hot attics full of ductwork you have here are the ones I learned on.

Frequently asked questions
How much does spray foam insulation cost in Fort Worth?
Installing spray foam insulation in the Dallas-Fort Worth area usually costs about $2,500 to $9,500 per home. Where your house lands in that range comes down to the size of the attic and what we find up there, and I'll give you your own number at the estimate.
Should I use open-cell or closed-cell spray foam in my attic?
Pick closed-cell foam when the foam also has to hold back moisture, because open-cell can't do that job. Closed-cell, the dense kind, slows water vapor at the thicknesses usually sprayed, while open-cell lets vapor pass through. Open-cell typically has an R-value, how well insulation slows heat, of about 3.6 per inch, so ask us how thick we plan to spray it.
Do I have to leave my house during spray foam insulation?
Yes, EPA guidance says the people living in the home should be out while the foam is sprayed, and we plan for the whole household, pets too, to be gone. For the professional high-pressure foam, some makers recommend waiting 24 hours before you come back, though it varies by product. We go by the maker of the foam on your job, so plan somewhere to stay until then.
What else does a sealed attic need after spray foam?
It needs a way to remove moisture, since any unvented, conditioned attic does, so we plan for that before we spray. Any gas furnace or water heater up there should be a direct-vent, sealed-combustion unit that vents outdoors, because the attic is closed off. Some foams also need a coating or drywall over them as a thermal or ignition barrier, a cover that shields the foam from heat and flame, depending on the foam and on code.
How long does spray foam insulation take?
The spraying is usually the quick part, and most of the time goes to the prep before it and the wait after it. Indoor conditions or the work schedule may need adjusting so the house suits spraying, and you stay out until the foam's maker says it's fine to return. I'll go over the timing for your house at the estimate.
What causes upstairs rooms to stay hot in a Fort Worth house?
Usually it's attic heat getting through thin insulation and gaps around can lights, pipes and the hatch, plus ducts running through that heat on the way to your rooms. Insulation that's deep in the middle and thin at the edges makes it worse. We find the leaks first, then decide with you whether foam or a top-up of loose fill is the fix.
Other insulation work for your attic
Attic insulation
If your furnace and ducts aren't in the attic, insulating the attic floor after sealing the gaps is usually the better spend for a hot upstairs.
Blown-in insulation
Loose fill blown through a hose evens out thin spots at the attic's edges and tops up old insulation that's settled, with the eave vents kept clear.
