Request an estimateIs open-cell spray foam right for my Fort Worth house?
Open-cell foam insulation is a soft spray foam that expands into the cracks it touches, so in a Fort Worth attic or wall it stops air and slows heat in one step. It still lets moisture vapor pass through, which is why where it goes matters as much as how much goes in.
Most people who call us have a hot room upstairs, a drafty room over the garage or a power bill that keeps climbing, and they've heard foam fixes it. Sometimes it does. The price turns on how much attic or wall area we're covering, whether the foam goes under the roof or between wall studs, and whether old, dirty insulation has to come out first through insulation removal. The schedule mostly turns on what has to be fixed before we spray, like a roof leak or wet framing, and on when your household can be out of the house. We're based in Fort Worth and work in many of the cities around it, and I'll give you your own figure once I've looked at the job.
How we install open-cell foam insulation
I start by looking at your attic and walls, because I want to see how many inches are already up there, any stains on the roof deck, which is the boards under your shingles, and where the ductwork runs before I suggest anything. If there's a roof leak, wet wood or droppings in the old insulation, I'll tell you to deal with that first, since foam sprayed over a problem just covers it up. Open-cell is the lower-cost foam and stops air well, but it lets moisture vapor through, so I only suggest it where that won't cause trouble. Under a roof we pay close attention to getting the deck sealed tight, and in walls the foam comes with a plan for handling moisture. On install day our crew covers floors and anything nearby, sprays the foam, trims it flush where it needs to be and cleans up before we leave.
Some of the same foam work goes into offices, shops and rental buildings, so property managers and business owners can see what we do for them on our commercial insulation page. If the trouble starts under the house, a damp crawl space usually needs a crawl space vapor barrier, a heavy liner laid over the dirt to hold ground moisture down, before foam makes sense anywhere near it.
Open-cell foam insulation in Fort Worth homes
Fort Worth works from the international energy code but writes in its own local changes, so what a foam job has to meet here may not match what you read online. Before the work starts, I check with the city's building office about what your job needs, and we take care of any permit and inspection on our end.
Around Fort Worth we usually find the air handler and ducts up in the attic, where summer heat bakes them and makes the upstairs rooms hard to cool. Older houses tend to have a few settled inches of insulation and open gaps around can lights, pipes and the attic hatch. Newer houses often have decent insulation on the attic floor and still run hot because the ducts sit in a hot attic. We see the same mix on jobs in Haltom City and Burleson, and we handle it the same way, checking what's already there before choosing where foam belongs.
Why call us for open-cell foam
I do the estimate myself
I come out to look at the job and give the estimate myself, then I run the work alongside our install crew. The person who explained the plan to you is the one making sure it gets done that way.
Learned the trade in Fort Worth
I left an office desk to learn insulation on a Fort Worth crew and started this business in 2020. These attics and their summer heat are the ones I learned on.
Licensed and insured on every job
We're fully licensed and insured. You're letting a crew into your attic and spraying foam in your house, so it's fair to ask about it when I come out.
Satisfaction guaranteed on every job
Before we pack up, I walk the finished attic or wall with you so you can see the edges are covered as well as the middle. The edges are where foam jobs usually come up short.

Frequently asked questions
Is open-cell or closed-cell spray foam better for my home?
Closed-cell is better where you need a rigid foam that blocks moisture and packs more insulation into each inch, and open-cell is better where a softer foam that lets moisture vapor through won't cause trouble. Some houses end up with one foam in one spot and the other somewhere else. I'll show you which fits where when I come out, and you can read more about closed-cell foam in the meantime.
How much does open-cell foam insulation cost in Fort Worth?
Open-cell is the lower-cost spray foam, and closed-cell costs more installed, mostly because it takes more material. Your own price comes from the area we're covering and what has to be fixed first, so I give you your figure at the estimate visit.
Do I need to leave the house while spray foam is installed?
Yes. Federal safety guidance says the people living in the house, and any other trades working there, should be out while spray foam goes in. Plan to be away for the whole install and the wait after it, kids and pets included, so pick dates when the household can stay somewhere else.
How long does it take before we can go back in after spray foam?
Some foam makers recommend waiting 24 hours after a professional install before anyone moves back in, though it can vary by product. That wait is called the re-entry time, the point when it's okay to come home, and I'll give you the figure for the exact foam we're using so you can plan your nights away.
Does open-cell foam work in walls in a humid climate?
Yes, as long as moisture is handled too. A federal building guide rates open-cell foam acceptable in frame-wall cavities, the spaces between the studs, in hot, humid climates, and says moisture flow has to be controlled there because the foam lets vapor through. That's why our wall jobs come with the moisture plan I described above, and I'll walk you through yours at the estimate.
What is the best way to insulate an attic when the ducts are up there?
Usually it's foam on the underside of the roof, so the ducts sit inside the cooled part of the house instead of in attic heat. When ducts sit in a vented attic, the energy for heating and cooling typically goes up 10%, and a modelling study found foamed, unvented roofs, meaning attics closed off from outside air, can work with either foam if the roof is kept airtight and winter humidity is controlled. The deck has to be sealed exceptionally tight for that, so ask any installer how they'll do it. If your ducts aren't up there, sealing the gaps and topping up blown-in insulation usually makes more sense, and I'll tell you so.

Crawl space vapor barrier
Cold floors and a musty smell often start below the house, where a sealed liner across the ground keeps moisture from rising into the floor framing.
